Single Fiber Fusion Splicer T-39LC

The T-39, Sumitomo’s core aligning single fibre splicer was introduced in 2006. It is field proven with many thousand T-39s in use around the world. Sumitomo have been listening to customer requests for improvements and new options with the result that the T-39 family now has a new member, the T-39-LC.

Common features for all T-39s include:

  • Two independent heat shrink ovens built onto the splicer body; saving up to 35% of the time spent for closing a junction;

  •  Fibre clamps that can operate independently from the wind hood to ease splicing of curled fibres;
  • Auto start of both splicing and heat shrinking of splice protectors
  •  Low power electronics to give long battery life. 200+ splices from a single charge of the BU-66L
  • Lead, DC adaptor option. Connects vehicle 12V cigarette lighter outlet to DC input of PS-66

T-39-LC with universal coating clamp, a solution to the “loose buffer problem”.
Many customers need to splice loose buffer secondary coated fibre and protect the splice with a 60mm splice protection sleeve. Standard coating clamp designs often have problems gripping loose buffer secondary coated fibre. To prevent the loose buffer slipping over the fibre during splicing, the operator must strip the secondary coating back outside the coating clamp. The result is, the distance between the end of the secondary coating and the splice point is >20mm and a 60mm protection sleeve cannot seal the end of the loose buffer.

The T-39-LC introduces a new design of universal coating clamp. This clamp works with primary coated fibre and tight buffer secondary coated fibre in the normal way. But it also grips loose buffer fibre, offering a simple solution to “loose buffer problem” and allowing a “loose to loose” splice to be protected in a 60mm sleeve.

A cleaver support bracket is available to clip neatly on the side of the T-39, providing a convenient and secure location for a Sumitomo FCP-2x or FC-6x cleaver.
